Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver

Learn what's covered and how to file a claim for damages or theft involving your rental vehicle.

  • What is covered?

    • This benefit reimburses you for damages caused by theft or collision up to the Actual Cash Value of most rented cars.

    • It covers valid loss-of-use charges imposed and substantiated by the auto rental company, administrative fees, and reasonable and customary towing charges to the nearest qualified repair facility.

    • Rental periods of fifteen (15) consecutive days within your country of residence, and thirty-one (31) consecutive days outside it, are covered.

  • What are the coverage limits?

    • Coverage reimburses up to the Actual Cash Value of rental vehicles with an original manufacturer's suggested retail price of up to $75,000.00 when new.

  • What is not covered (Exclusions)?

    • Damage to any other driver's car, or the injury of anyone or anything inside or outside the Rental Vehicle.

    • Certain vehicles are excluded, including expensive, exotic, and antique cars; cargo vans; trucks; motorcycles; mopeds; limousines; and recreational vehicles.

    • Theft or damage due to intentional acts, alcohol/drugs, illegal activities, wear and tear, or off-road operation.

    • Rental transactions that originated in Israel, Jamaica, the Republic of Ireland, or Northern Ireland.

  • Who is the insurance provider?

    • This benefit is issued and managed by the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, located at 202B Hall's Mill Road, Whitehouse Station, New Jersey 08889.

How to Claim

Important First Step: You must use your eligible card to initiate and complete your entire car rental transaction and decline the rental company's collision damage waiver (CDW/LDW) option for this benefit to apply.

Tip: Please reference Policy Number N18135875. You should report the theft or damage as soon as possible but no later than forty-five (45) days from the date of the incident. Be prepared to provide a copy of the accident report form, initial and final auto rental agreements, the repair estimate and itemized repair bill, an account statement showing the last 4 digits used for the transaction, and a police report if obtainable.
