This article covers connecting Pliant MCP to Cursor (the editor and Cursor agents).
Before you start: an organization admin has to turn on Pliant MCP once, for the whole organization.
Go to Settings > Modules in Pliant.
Find the Pliant MCP tile and activate it.
Turning the module off later revokes access for everyone and does not delete conversation history already stored in your AI tool.
What you need
You need the server address https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp and your Client ID. There is no secret for this tool. Your Client ID is shown in Pliant, or contact Pliant support and we send it to you.
Connect
Step 1. Open Cursor Settings > MCP > Add new MCP server. This opens mcp.json. Add Pliant and replace CLIENT_ID with yours:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pliant": {
"url": "https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp",
"auth": { "CLIENT_ID": "<CLIENT_ID>" }
}
}
}
Step 2. Click Connect on the pliant server, sign in with your Pliant account and select Allow.
Cursor desktop listens on localhost port 8787 for the sign-in. If the browser shows a callback error, close other Cursor windows and try again.
Check that it works
Ask your assistant: "Which Pliant account am I connected as?" It should answer with your name, organization and role.
If something goes wrong
If sign-in fails immediately, you may have an open Pliant session in your browser. Open https://login.getpliant.com/v2/logout and try again.
Still stuck? Contact Pliant support with your tool, its version and the exact error text.
