This article covers connecting Pliant MCP to VS Code with GitHub Copilot Chat in agent mode.
Before you start: an organization admin has to turn on Pliant MCP once, for the whole organization.
Go to Settings > Modules in Pliant.
Find the Pliant MCP tile and activate it.
Turning the module off later revokes access for everyone and does not delete conversation history already stored in your AI tool.
What you need
You need the server address https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp and your Client ID. There is no secret for this tool. Your Client ID is shown in Pliant, or contact Pliant support and we send it to you.
Connect
Step 1. Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Open User Configuration. Add:
{
"servers": {
"pliant": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp" }
}
}
Step 2. Start the pliant server. VS Code asks for a client ID. Paste your Client ID and leave the secret empty.
Step 3. Sign in with your Pliant account and select Allow.
If sign-in fails with "Callback URL mismatch", VS Code could not use port 33418. Quit all VS Code windows, open one window and try again.
Check that it works
Ask your assistant: "Which Pliant account am I connected as?" It should answer with your name, organization and role.
If something goes wrong
If sign-in fails immediately, you may have an open Pliant session in your browser. Open https://login.getpliant.com/v2/logout and try again.
Still stuck? Contact Pliant support with your tool, its version and the exact error text.
For all configuration details and the full tool list, see the developer documentation.
