This article covers connecting Pliant MCP to the Codex CLI.
Before you start: an organization admin has to turn on Pliant MCP once, for the whole organization.
Go to Settings > Modules in Pliant.
Find the Pliant MCP tile and activate it.
Turning the module off later revokes access for everyone and does not delete conversation history already stored in your AI tool.
What you need
You need the server address https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp and your Client ID. There is no secret for this tool. Your Client ID is shown in Pliant, or contact Pliant support and we send it to you.
Connect
Step 1. At the very top of ~/.codex/config.toml, above any section, add:
mcp_oauth_callback_port = 8977 mcp_oauth_callback_url = "http://127.0.0.1:8977/callback"
Step 2. Add the server (replace the Client ID):
codex mcp add pliant --url https://mcp.getpliant.com/mcp --oauth-client-id <CLIENT_ID>
Step 3. Sign in:
codex mcp login pliant
Use the server address exactly as shown, without a trailing slash. A different address changes the callback and sign-in fails.
Check that it works
Ask your assistant: "Which Pliant account am I connected as?" It should answer with your name, organization and role.
If something goes wrong
If sign-in fails immediately, you may have an open Pliant session in your browser. Open https://login.getpliant.com/v2/logout and try again.
Still stuck? Contact Pliant support with your tool, its version and the exact error text.
